Gary M. Gold, O.D.


Dr. Gold graduated from the California School of Optometry, Berkeley, in 1977. Soon after he graduated, he joined the practice of Dr. Irving Kass.

Dr. Gold assumed ownership of the practice in 1981 and retained the same loyal patient base, even developing it into a thriving primary eyecare office. After being in practice for over 20 years, we anticipate only further growth and success for the practice without compromising patient care and dedication.  Dr. Gary Gold & Associates celebrated its 28th anniversary in our new location.

Dr. Gold has been a member of the California Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association since 1978. He received his State Therapeutic Drug license in 1999.

Peite Ting, O.D.


Dr. Ting received her Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley in 1996. She continued her education at Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton.

Completing internships at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA, Southwest Vision Services, Las Vegas, NV, and the Albuquerque Veterans Affairs facility in Albuquerque, NM she received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2000.

Dr. Ting holds licenses as follows: National Board of Examiners in Optometry: Treatment and Management of Ocular Diseases, 1999; Patient Care, 2000,California State Board, Optometry, 2000, California State Board, Therapeutic Drug, 2000.

Ann Kinoshita, O.D.


Dr. Ann Kinoshita became our associate doctor in 1993. Graduated from California School of Optometry, Berkeley, in 1991, she completed a primary care residency with an emphasis on ocular disease form the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia. Dr Kinoshita is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association and the Santa Clara County Optometric Society. In 1996 she was voted the Santa Clara Society’s “Young OD of the Year."

Nicholas Froumis, O.D.


Dr. Nicholas Froumis received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1999, where he graduated cum laude. After working in a research laboratory at the Jules Stein Eye Institute for two years, he continued his education at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry.

After completing externships at the Sacramento and Palo Alto Veteran Affairs clinics, in addition to the Point West and Oakland Kaiser Permanente Hospitals, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2005. He graduated with highest honors and was awarded the prestigious Golden Retinoscope award for outstanding clinical performance.

Dr. Froumis is passionate about optometry and has appeared on public access television to promote the field. His specific areas of interest include contact lenses and ocular pathology, and he has received certification for the treatment of glaucoma. He is thrilled to be back in the Bay Area with his wife and daughter. He enjoys various sports and is also an avid distance runner, rarely missing a day in the past 10 years. In 2011, Dr. Froumis had Lasik surgery and is thrilled with his results.

Shilpi Ratra, O.D.


Dr. Shilpi Ratra was born in India and grew up in Los Angeles. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Davis in 2003. She continued her education in the Big Apple, at State University of New York College of Optometry. After completing externships at Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs HealthCare System and specialties in Contact Lens, Ocular disease, Pediatrics in New York, she received her Doctorate of Optometry degree in 2011. Upon graduation, she was awarded Morton L. Kimmelman Memorial Award for Student Leadership in Organized Optometry.


Dr. Ratra desired to grow her knowledge and skills even further by completing a Residency in 2012, at Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs HealthCare System. During this training she was able to practice specific areas including ocular pathology, low vision and work in the Blind Rehabilitation Center. Dr. Ratra enjoys practicing the full scope of optometry and is therapeutic and glaucoma certified. She excited to be living in the Bay area with her parents, younger sister and big puppy. She enjoys hiking, painting, cooking and spending time with friends and family.

Nilam Bansal, O.D.


Dr. Nilam Bansal received her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston in 2011. Her externships consisted of the Albuquerque Veteran Affairs in New Mexico and a private practice specializing in contacts in Austin Texas. She is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association and is currently an office member of the local optometry society.

Dr. Bansal is therapeutic and glaucoma certified and enjoys full scope optometry with an emphasis on ocular disease and contact lenses.

Being new to the area, she loves exploring the Bay Area with her husband and enjoys cooking and volunteering. Being very passionate about helping others, she consistently volunteers in the states and third world countries.
